Nomads 44 Toronto Scottish 12

So despite all the trash talking and the temporary import of two Kiwi semi-pros the Scottish go down to defeat. I think they still lead the division owing to having garnered more bonus points than us but that will be fairly irrelevant come play off time. The situation is pretty confused right now with York having been thrown out of the league and rumours that Windsor will choose to drop down to the NRU but it looks reasonably possible that both Nomads and the Scottish will move up to the ORU next season.

In other Ontario rugby news the Toronto Saracens clinched promotion to the Marshall division with a win over Burlington.

Hmm, so the Toronto Scottish are following the lead of the main Scottish team by using kilted Kiwis? ;)

Well that they are Kiwis is not so odd. This is Toronto after all and I think between 1sts and 2nds today we played Brits, Aussies, Kiwis, Jaapies, a couple of Argentinians and one from Zimbabwe. What was a bit dubious is that the Scottish diverted two guys who were released by the Glasgow Hawks last week, who were on their way to Vancouver to play for one of the BC clubs, to Toronto to play this one game.

I'd say that sounds more than a little dubious.

Oh well, if winning is so important to the Toronto Scottish that they'll break the rules good and hard without worrying about any consequences, what can you do? I hope that the relevant authorities are made aware and remove points/impose fines.

It's not illegal as long as they registered the players and paid the appropriate fees but it is rather unsportsmanlike.
