Date: 2005-02-14 11:38 am (UTC)On the plus side, Wales beat Italy, by a decent margin, putting them in second place. Providing they play like they did against the English, they should be able to take the game to the French. While my heart would like Wales to win, I think that this year could be Ireland's turn (IIRC they last won the 5N in 1985).
As an aside, the BBC commentator on the Scotland-Ireland games talked about O'Connell being the Lions' Captain, which would be a case of history (almost) repeating itself when Martin Johnson was named Lion's captain, despite not being the regular English captain and leading the squad to victory in SA.
As another aside, I do hope Sir Clive was watching all of these matches, I don't envy his task of choosing between O'Gara & a hopefully fit Wilkinson, for the first team.
