I wonder...
Mar. 6th, 2005 12:00 pmCBC Geoff has sent out the summonses for the first rugby game of the season in two weeks time. Looking at the snow on the ground and in the forecast I have my doubts. If we do play I will be masquerading as Irish in a team that will probably be about as Irish as the Foreign Legion. Still I am making efforts to get fit just in case. Today's effort featured 45 floors worth of stairs, 40 push ups and 100 sit ups. I've also joined the lemur on her low-carb routine for a while to see if I can shed a few pounds.
Talking of the Foreign Legion I'm reading a rather good history of it (up to the loss of Algeria). It's rather ironic that before during and after WW2 the French (including but not only the FL) were committing atrocities in North Africa and Indo-China on a scale that the Germans (the ones actually fighting for Germany!) never got close to in France but for which the French were more than ready to execute fairly large numbers of Germans as war criminals.
