Another stroll around the park
May. 1st, 2005 04:38 pmSo, in the grand tradition of being willing to play for anyone to get a game, I was a Wanderer today in an old boys game against Peterborough. It was a pretty good game with lots of hard running and fiercely contested rucks and mauls. We had no subs so i played the whole game at blind side flanker which probably explains my current exanimate condition. It wasn't one of my better games although my team mates were quite kind about it. Low point was definitely bouncing right off man mountain (there must have been 350 pounds plus of him) in an utterly futile attempt to tackle him head on.
Did I mention I'm totally shattered?

I know what old boys are, where Peterborough is, and what a game is (in general terms; I couldn't for the life of me tell you which game you're talking about). The rest? You could be making up. :)

Date: 2005-05-01 11:51 pm (UTC)In this context, a sub is a substitute. As we had just the 15 we needed to make up a team, there were none.
A maul is a technical thingie see here (http://www.irb.com/NR/rdonlyres/B7B8CC38-FC2B-4673-9B1D-BEA22CB0E96F/0/law17.pdf)
Oher methods of dealing with subs available on request.
