Venturing forth

So today I ventured forth from the 'hood,
lemur_catta at my side. This is quite rare as, rugby aside, I rarely go far these days. The excuse though was the Annex Patio Art Fair. It's a bit odd as the various artists exhibit on walls and shop fronts on and just off Bloor Street and the back drops rarely do justice to the works (though frankly in many cases justice to the works would involve flogging followed by immediate execution for the artist.) There were rather a lot of neo-primitives and some poltically didactic pieces that made me think of Dan Tokenhouse's Four Priests Faking a Miracle. There was also some fairly OK photography.
We did bump into
celestial_chaos who was exhibiting. I quite like her work which definitely does not merit flogging and execution (though with the lovely
celestial_chaos who would need an excuse for flogging). If I wasn't so broke I would definitely buy a couple of her pictures.
Afterwards the lemur bought me pho which inevitably made me sleepy so the last couple of hours have been spent napping and occasionally scritching an importunate bengal.

There is an event here every summer wher artists work on the sidewalks. It all reminds me of nothing so much as Ben commenting that he expects to come home one day and find that Gardzilla has swallowed not just the house but half the city.
