I'm probably slightly mad

The humidex is pushing 44 this afternoon.

I have just:

• Cleaned the cat boxes
  
• Taken the trash out
  
• Taken out five large plastic baskets worth of recycling
  
• Powerwashed the kitten condo, the recycling bins and the trash bin

I have now officially given up on conscientously trying to help the province avoid brown outs and turned on the AC.

Further to that, given the brown out warning in effect, why was every public space I was in today, including government owned ones, chilled down to the point where one almost needed a sweater?

I wrote to suggest to the governor of Virginia that perhaps he might like to solve his budget deficit by ruling that all state institutions should turn up their thermostats by two degrees in summer (from 69 to 71) thus saving zillions and zillions in energy costs and also saving students from wearing Patagonia fleeces in July when it is 120 degrees outside.
He did not reply.
