Trent Bridge Day 3

A wild and wacky morning followed by a much more conventional afternoon and evening as Australia tried to dig themselves out of a really deep hole. England really must win now. Nothing else is remotely acceptable. Objectively the game situation is overwhelmingly in England's favour and, perhaps more importantly, the convicts are rattled as Ponting's outburst this afternoon shows.

England need to go for the killer punch. This Australian team has little experience of losing so it's a perfect opportunity to kick them when they are down. They have made a specialty of doing that to others for a decade. It's payback time!

I am still really worried that the Australians will get right back into the match - not sure this is totally rational, but as you say England must win & I'm terrified they haven't quite got that last killer edge. I don't think I shall have any fingers left by the end, let alone fingernails.

yup agreed - we should have won certainly the last and arguably the last 2. We don't have as much experience as Australia of winning, and those that have done it from difficult situations - Thorpey, Nass etc, are no longer in the side.
We badly need wickets. We could yet lose this.

I know. Let's hope the new ball makes a difference - v.bad to have lost Jones though.
