Stalker!

I can't remember whether I have mentioned it before but I am being phone stalked by a crazy woman. I think she's harmless but extremely delusional. However, it's getting to be a bit of a drag as she calls many times a day, often one call right after another. Last night it got so bad that we disconnected the phones and let the calls go straight to VMX.

At one level one has to admire her persistence but I do get a bit fed up of 337ing through the n messages a day she leaves.

ETA: Just erased 26 messages.

christ. Sounds scary shit. I've been through something very similar in the past with an ex. If you want to talk about it, or it all gets too much at any point, let me know and I'll give you my email. Meanhile love to you, the kitties and your better half x

It's annoying but not scary because I have no idea who this person is and she clearly has me confused with someone else so there is nothing very personal about it.

aha, almost amusing then if it wasn't so annoying. Can you get call screening over there? My sis has it in the US, to evade salespeople, and you have to say your name before you're even connected to the answerphone, and she has a safe-list I think. Might be worth contacting your telecoms provider about?

We can but it costs yet more money. One option is to actually get rid of the land line altogether. It hardly gets used anyway.

Go for it. Once we'd moved to broadband and both got cell phones a few years ago, we dumped the landline. Neither of us talks on the phone much, so we rarely go over our monthly cell phone minutes. No point paying for a service that you hardly ever use.

Have a word with BT (or whoever provides the line.) I had a similar problem with an old lady who consistently misdialled my number for her son's, but it stopped with a word from the Elderly People's Unit.

I also note that BT is promoting its "privacy" initiative by waiving the fee for Caller Line Identification so long as there's a call per quarter from the line.

Bell isn't so accommodating. They appear to see stalking as a revenue opportunity.
