Breath taking arrogance seems to be the litmus test for telling when a political leader has stayed too long (cf Jean Chretien).

Blair claims MPs are out of touch.

Today's Standard headline is 'Rebel MPs plot against Blair'.

I can't help thinking that 'Rebel MPs don't plot against Blair' would be more of a headline.

Yes - I went to the BBC news website at lunch and was reading about this, and found the list of how each MP voted, and was very pleased to see that ours voted against the bill. Was tempted to write him a letter saying "hi, I didn't vote for you, but I'm ver pleased with how you voted on this issue, thanks!" *grin*

I was going to add something about this to the Mark Steyn entry. Tony Blair, Bright but stupid.

I swear, it's only because the Tories are patently worse AND more clueless ... If they were to pull their heads out any time soon, Labour really would be screwed.
