I never mentioned this, but X was raised on cricket grounds. I mean this seriously -- his father was a groundskeeper, and so he grew up in groundskeepers' cottages. I know he lived at Tunbridge Wells and IIRC broke his arm falling off the roof of the pavilion at Lords'. I think my FIL was the head groundkeeper there. X got to meet some really famous cricketers of the later 50s and 60s, including Sobers and Richards. And sold a packet of cigs to Paul McCartney ...
Sorry for the hijack -- it's just not often I get to say, "here's something that is pretty cool .." wrt cricket. But it seems that every match I've watched (telecast from England, that is), there's been a story to go with it.
