Last night I was reading about the lead up to the Thirty Years War. Today's Guardian crossword has three clues relating to defenestration.

I did the crossword, but not the reading. :-)

It's weird how that happens, isn't it? There was a period of a few years where I would do a general knowledge crossword on a Sunday morning with my parents, and then there would be University Challenge at lunchtime, and Mastermind in the evening. It seemed to happen far more than it should that the same facts or names would occur in at least two of the three things.

If I do the Times crossword on Monday, there's a very good chance that at least one identical or very similar clue will make it to the Grauniad or Independent by Wednesday at the outside.

See, that's what I love about the English language: that there are single words like defenestration.

I expect german has a single word for the whole incident Die Pragadefenestrazion perhaps?

The thing I loved about the defenestration was that it was so good they did it twice, two centuries apart!
