We have a winner! [livejournal.com profile] blonde222's nomination of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon raked in 41 votes closely followed by [livejournal.com profile] ghastlymess who scored 33 votes for Amelie. Poke them with a sharp stick everyone!

Actually, I'm pretty amazed by how many of you have seen rather a lot of not very mainstream films. I am of course amazed, and horrified, that so many of you haven't seen The Seventh Seal. Still, the good thing is that you have a great film experience ahead of you.

Hmmmm....I didn't do too badly with Seven Samurai either. But I'm stunned that only one other person's seen La Strada. Get thee to a video store, [profile] chickenfeet2003's flist!

It wasn't a very inspired choice on my part was it?

Oops, I missed the voting. I went back and did it and I moved La Strada into a respectable second to last. Wow, I'm shocked too. Like any self-repecting circus freak, I love La Strada!

Yay for circus freaks!

I haven't actually been to a circus in years, but I did run away and join the circus* when I was a kid....and that kind of experience marks you for life!

* Not really...my mum's cousin worked for Circus Roncalli in Germany and I stayed with her for a week before starting school. Coolest childhood memory eva!

I've seen Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey which parodies it. Does that count?

So does Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Yeah, I know. It just seemed funnier to compare it to Bill & Ted.

It's amazing how often it's been referenced or parodied. Watching it for the first time is curiously like seeing Hamlet for the first time. It seems familiar!

The French and Saunders skit was devastating. Ever since seeing it the family has referred to a particular brand of biscuits as Höbnöbs

I am a two time winner now.

Whenever you mention my name, you should now add the prefix as follows:"Two Time Humiliation Winner Blonde222"

My goodness. I thought for sure Nikita would do better. But CTHD was an, er, inspired? choice.

I lied to you. I have seen The Seventh Seal. I can't have read the list carefully enough, sorry.

The Seventh Seal is fine, but have you seen Last Action Hero? Best Seventh Seal joke ever in it.

Rent it! Steal it! Most expensive indie movie in the history of Hollywood, in fact. Very funny, very clever, full of movie and theatre jokes, flew MILES above the heads of the audience when it first came out. You should see Ian McKellen in a two-minute cameo as Death from The Seventh Seal walking out of a dingy movie theatre screen in Manhattan...

Bought it today (£2.97; a magazine would cost more!) Will probably start watching it and looking out to the references to the death of Moe Zart.

I think this was my record for most films on the list seen (16) and there was only one I hadn't heard of (Ringu). I definitely feel humiliated for not having seen The Idiots , since I go out of my way to see Dogme 95 films.
