Lady Jane is getting fixed today. It's a general anaesthetic with the small but finite risk that that involves. I didn't sleep at all well last night and finally ended up getting up just after five. Jane was fasting of course so I had to shut her out while I was feeding the kittens but she came in afterwards and snuggled for most of the time until it was time to take her to the clinic. When she saw me getting the carrier out she ran and hid under the bed and had to be coaxed out. She squawked a bit in the elevator and the car but had calmed down by the time we got to the clinic. She's at the Humane Society so the vets all know her which probably helps. We get her back, all being well, at 0800 tomorrow. In the meantime I shall probably be a basket case.

Oh, honey. Much sympathy, and good thoughts for LJGK.

Awww. The day we had Miss Maggie fixed, I felt much the same way...I didn't sleep well at all the night before we had to bring her in, or the night she spent at the vet. Even though I knew it was the Responsible Pet Owner thing to do, I still felt bad for subjecting her to it. What made me feel better about the whole thing was that, when I picked her up to come home, I saw that two of the techs had written right on her chart what a sweet kitten she was. :-) I'm sure LJGK will be just fine. **hugs**

My cats have their paws crossed for you! And I have my fingers crossed, too.

Not to worry - you'll get lots of dirty looks for a few days, but she'll be fine. You just have to remember that vets are people who didn't want to do medicine because the course was too easy...

I have great confidence in the vets at the THS. They spay and neuter a lot of animals and as I know from my own work success rates in any surgical procedure tend to correlate with the number of times the surgeon performs that procedure. That was one reason that I was keen to get Jane done at THS rather than our regular vet. Fortunately of course, we are well connected there and even though it's often hard to get an animal on their list, well you know.

Yup - the PDSA in the UK provides some of the best Veterinary care because they are so busy: the vets and the VN's get a lot of experience, and even though some of them take that experience into the private sector, a surprising number of them stay because they're bought in to the whole charity ethos.

awwwww, it's something that must be done. You'll be happy when it's all done and over with.
I'm sure she'll be fine.
I feel bad that we waited as long as we did. Our mama cat had 2 litters before we took her in.

Just remember not to mock her naked tummy when she comes home! Keeping my fingers crossed, but she's in good hands.

Violet sends her best, as well as a bag of catnip (for later) to dear LJG.

Poor little pussycat. I'm sure she'll be fine - have you heard anything from them yet about how she's doing?

No news is probably good news. They sound like good vets though.
