Yesterday evening

Yesterday evening was a bit of a disaster. We were supposed to be having people over to play bridge but they had to cry off. Then at some point between late afternoon and early evening my right eye decided to start misbehaving. It's still misbehaving. It's very bloodshot, half closed and weeping badly but I have no idea why. In any event, it hurts and I am not a happy bear.

Could just be something like an in-turned eye lash - but I'm guessing you've checked for that. You could make up a saline solution using boiled water and some salt and rince out, or you could pop down the chemist!

(do you wear contact lenses? - sometimes, if you've got disposal lenses, they don't come out in one piece....)

I do wear disposable lenses but I don't think it's that. I'm going to try a hot compress and I've also got some Tobramycin drops.

I guessing he's contracted conjunctivitis from the kittens who all have colds right now. Humans can't get their virus but, the bacterial eye stuff is quite contagious.

That was my first thought. They were the symptoms I got when I had conjuctivtis. not fun stuff but eye drops and hot saline solution do the trick.

What do you do with the hot saline? Is that for the compress? I've just used water in the past.

I was just using it as you would water. The heat and salt make it harer for bugs to keep alive.
