As for Basra, it reminds me horribly of the way the ordinary folk of Northern Ireland started by welcoming the troops in Ulster and ended by hating their guts. We're well on our way down that track now, I think.

I only wish I could believe it will be electoral suicide for Harper, but it won't be. Ontarians are much more concerned with their tax breaks than they are with federal-provincial financial affairs, though. A lot of people seem to really like this budget.
