chickenfeet: (sousou)

As rosy fingered dawn crept across Toronto Harbour this morning I was dragged into consciousness by a small kitten biting my nose. I grumbled my way back into near sleep which was welcome as I was (a)very sleepy still and (b)having a scrummy dream that wasn't about ponies. This pattern repeated itself for what seemed like hours but probably wasn't. Eventually, it being full daylight and Sleep, despite having failed to knit up the ravelled skein of care, being thoroughly banished I dragged myself from my bed and set off, bleary eyed, in search of cat food. Slightly stunned by the deafening kitten chorus and needing all my faculties to cope with the complexities of opening a ring pull can it was some minutes before I realised it was still only 5.45. Bleah!

Rosy-fingered bloody Dawn. She's always up before I am.

I love the early mornings, though I am not so keen on the midnight dawn chorus.

This past week has been sunny as well as light, and it has been a pleasure to wake up.

From June to August, there is a strip of sky in the north which is blue throughout the night; lovely.

Edinburgh is a few degrees north of Toronto, too - so we get even longer days! Yay!

Edinburgh is a lot further north than Toronto. I used to love midsummer in Durham which is the farthest north I've ever lived. I was once though in Torridon in June and it never really got dark.
