I now have pretty much full range of motion back in my shoulder and I have a new, more aggressive, set of strengthening exercises to do. We are starting to talk about what I need to do to get back in rugby playing condition as opposed to just being able to function. This is going to be as much a psychological challenge as a physical one. I won't be back on a rugby field until I'm confident enough to play with my normal intensity. I've learned from previous injuries that it just doesn't work for me to play less than whole heartedly. The complication this time though is that for a player like me it's all about shoulders. I need shoulders to tackle. I need shoulders to hit rucks and clean out. I need shoulders to take the ball into contact. If legs and feet are what get me around the park, it's shoulders that do the work that really matters. So I'd better feel good about them!
