It seems somehow appropriate that following on from c_mantix's excellent discussion on Canadian vs Quebec films, audience, language politics and elephants, today's Oxford DNB life of the day should be General Wolfe.

Excellent! Ironically, French Québécois have embraced Wolfe's portrayal as a devastatingly tragic and romantic hero and appropriated him as their own somehow. Naturally, they've done the same with Montcalm! Another point to chalk up under inconsistent data;)
