Doing the little one can

There's not much one can do about the US Government when one isn't a citizen but I suppose we can and should try. Let's at least try to get our governments to distance themselves from the monster to the south.
Dear Mr. Graham,
In passing the Military Commissions Act of 2006 the US Congress has asserted the right of the US Administration to detain indefinitely and, by any reasonable definition, torture any person not being a citizen of the United States. Naturally this includes Canadian citizens. Indeed by virtue of our proximity to the United States and the not infrequent need to cross US territory in the course of our travels we are among those most likely to fall foul of this particularly obnoxious assertion of the American imperium.
My question to you, as my MP and leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, is what steps will you be taking to pressure the Government of Canada into taking appropriate actions to protect Canadian citizens and human rights more generally? It seems particularly poignant that this threat should come at a time when the failure of the Government of Canada to protect Maher Arar from US torture by proxy is still on the front pages.
Yours sincerely

My question to you, as Prime Minister of Canada, is what steps will the Canadian Government take to protect Canadian citizens from this iniquitous and probably illegal extension of American jurisdiction. I would also like to know what representations the Canadian Government intends to make to protest against a most disturbing repudiation of international law and the standards of civilized nations by a country with whom we have both military alliance and free trade agreements.
Yours sincerely
