Sexist food expectations

There's a convo going on chez oursin about an article in the Observer Food Monthly entitled "A Girl's Guide to Eating and Drinking" which not unsurprisingly is being relentlessly cod slapped by hordes of non-sexist foodies.

The whole thing reminded me of an old comic strip by Reiser on a related topic which I have scanned. It's below the cut because, entirely predictably, it's exceedingly vulgar, probably NSFW and, worst of all, in French. You have been warned.

I remember this strip! Fort some reason, it made a huge impact on me at the time. It was absurd, it was angry, it was largely silly when all's said and done - but it was unforgettable.

Do you actually have the mag? When did it run?

I have it in a collection called Vive les Vacances which I was given by my, then, girlfriend. It's not dated but I must have acquired it in 1981 or 1982.

Er, it occurs to me that I have an exceptionally non-masculine bottom, and it did not get this way from 'eating like a girl.'! To be fair, I think I was born with it, but on those occasions when I tried eating like a girl (i.e., dieting till I was at 9 stone, at which point, you could see my sternum, scary collarbones, and ribs, it was still the size that would mortify the 'just a salad' brigade. I'd much rather like all kinds of foods and enjoy them, thanks.
