Busy weekend

This weekend I did something I haven't done for several years now. I played on Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday I propped for Markham in a game against the Lions. It was wet and windy but, considering the conditions, a really good game of rugby. I don't personally think i had a great game but i was more or less adequate. Today i hooked for Peterborough against the NOBs in a really nasty, bad tempered game. It was the NOBs tame referee and he doesn't improve with age. All the games he refs get out of control and, inevitably, cheap shots turn into punch ups. I'm not really a fighter. In all the years I've been playing I've never been carded. Today though, this big soft 400# goon landed a punch on a team mate so i went for him. Threw a couple, took a couple before we got split up. It seems I only ever get in punch ups with guys twice my size. It's a shame really. The guys had come all the way down from Peterborough where the weather has been appalling the last couple of days so it wasn't an easy trip for them and they get stuck with a bunch of unnecessary crap. It could easily have just been a good, hard game. It didn't need to spill over into silliness.

I'm more or less in one piece. my left arm and shoulder are going to be sore and it looks like I took at least one shot to the jaw because it's scraped and tender but I'll live!
