In case anyone is interested, [livejournal.com profile] knirirr is doing a rather good job of forcing me to articulate and defend my position on future democratic reforms. The discussion is in the comments to this post.

In other news, I shall miss Ferenc Puskas a great deal more than Milton Friedman.

That has to be one of the worst political quiz I have ever taken (though it did, still, describe me as a moderate social liberal, which is true, but we already knew that...).

I think your line about not penalizing people for their unfortunate choice of parents is largely why I support progressive taxation and some sort of welfare state.

I'd be very interested to know in what way it was bad, particularly since it gave you the "correct" result!

The headline notes are, um, not exactly impartial, nor are the answers to the questions, despite their supposed "revision" to make them more "objective". (Example, just to provide the opposite spin, which I also don't agree with, for question #3: "The jobs of millions of American manufacturing workers are at risk from cheap imports from Asia. The US government, through a variety of subsidy programs, enhances the ability of manufacturing companies to compete in both the US and international markets. Do you support such programs?")

It seems interesting that the only question about militarism is about the draft, which will lend people to say, "no, there shouldn't be a draft", which is a quite minor issue, rather than, say, "how should the US influence the rest of the world militarily?"

There are questions about guns, but not crime (except for a remarkably skewed question about drugs) or punishment. Etc.

Interesting, thanks.
Of course it is biased, though. All such tests I have ever seen are biased in one way or another.
I find the draft question interesting, because it mentioned national service. I seem to hear more and more comments these days about how good it would be to have some.
