New Year and so on

We had a quiet NYE. We went out for lunch at the newly opened Mill Street Brew Pub which is not bad. It offers several Mill Street beers that aren't available in bottle. The IPA was fairly good. The food is perhaps a little better than C'est What but unremarkable and a bit more expensive. It's a pleasant space but I don't seeing replacing C'est What when I need a draught beer fix. It was a good excuse for an afternoon nap though.

I cooked raie au beurre noir for dinner. lemur_catta has requested a more or less pescatorian regime for a while which I'm happy to try. This was day one. Salad and cheese (we are nearly through the good Christmas cheese) followed. We drank a 13th Street sparkling rosé (Pinot Noir/Chardonnay blend) and very nice it was.

Afterwards we watched some Forsyte Saga and Jeeves and Wooster before retiring at a respectable hour. Owing to hair loss I have retired from my once compulsory tall, dark stranger role.
