If you are an arts organisation that specialises in baroque and early classical type stuff it's a fair bet that your target audience and, even more, your target donors are mostly over 40. Given that, you might want to think about publishing your brochures in a font size and colour scheme that your target audience might just be able to read. Pretty is good but legible is essential. Yes, Toronto Masque Theatre, I'm looking at you.
The concept of Asset Management is rather nifty in that it recognises two unspeakable truths about the contemporary public sector and tries to do something about them. Government will never allocate sufficient funds to keep public assets in a decent state of repair and politicians (and other interest groups within government) will do their damnedest to make sure that what money is available is spent for their short term political gain rather than the longer term public good. Asset Management is a rather cunning way to deal, albeit only partially, with these problems. There are signs that this could become a non-trivial part of my future working life.
