Bon Cop, Bad Cop
May. 28th, 2007 08:10 amI laughed like a drain at this 'bilingual' Canadian movie that plays on the national obsessions of hockey and the Franco/Anglo cultural divide. It might well even be well nigh incomprehensible to a non Canadian and anybody but a fluently bilingual Montrealer is going to need subtitles as both official languages are spoken rather worse than even Jean Chretien managed. Its a comedy action thriller and much of the plot is highly contrived but the in jokes are done really well. Rick Mercer has a splendid cameo as the xenophobic, bigoted hockey 'expert', Tom Berry, the commissioner of the CHL, Gary Buttman, is a dwarf and many other such unsubtle but funny gags. If you are Canadian definitely watch it. If you aren't this flick may help explain why we are as weird as we are.

Date: 2007-05-28 12:54 pm (UTC)It was such fun;) A movie made-to-order for li'l ol' moi! And even though Louis-José Houde generally gives me a rash, he was one of the highlights of the movie as the fast-talking coroner. They certainly did a good job casting the flick.
