So, some folks ([livejournal.com profile] coyotegestalt, [livejournal.com profile] redhilltown and [livejournal.com profile] kinetikatrue) have done rounds of literary boticelli, and I won the last one, so I'm hosting this round. I love word games, what can I say. In-depth directions for the game can be found here on kinetikatrue's page. It's layed out all pretty nicely, so I suggest you go read and come back. But basically, the question you ask must be specific enough that I can answer confidently with a particular author or character (as in, "no, I'm not Elizabeth Bennett"). If I don't get the reference, you get to ask a more general question that can be answered with a yes or no, such as the person's sex, age, nationality, etc.

So, my name begins with S.

ETA: I am a male, fictional character created after 1900 by someone British. I am not North American. My exploits take place in something closely resembling the real world. I am not any kind of Smith, Eustace Scrubbs, Jonathan Strange or Mr. Smee.

ETA2: One at a time please folks. Form an orderly queue.

Are you a scientist unable to further your studies in mathematical theory on your own utopian world because of its hierarchical structures?

Ah, then you are not Shevek, from The Dispossessed by Ursula LeGuin.

Follow-up: Have you killed anyone?
