Oh, even simpler - there's an "automatic enhance" command in PhotoStudio and it usually does the trick... (it gives you a choice of 16 settings, though.) And yes, the lowest Sharpen setting. Don't have Photoshop and the few times I was at a machine that had it, dunno how to use it.
