My memory is really hazy about 1990.
I know how it started. We were up at a friends' place in the Gatineau on New year's Eve. We were out cross country skiing when the freezing rain came down and turned everything to wet ice. As a result, we and everyone else stayed over. This resulted in David spending his first New Year sleeping on the floor under one of my sweaters.
I was working for Kearney and travelling every week. I think I worked on a gig for Fletcher Challenge, researching the west coast newsprint market and I certainly published a series of articles in Canadian Manager that year. Rock climbing, canoeing and skiing were still a big part of life. David went on his first overnight canoe camping trip that spring when he was maybe eight months old.
Later in the year I was promoted to Principal and we relocated to Toronto, buying a house in the Bloor West village area. My friend MF, who worked for the LCBO, was relocated at the same time and we stayed at the the same hotel while house hunting sharing many dinners.
I guess by the end of the year M must have been pregnant as Kate was born in August the following year but I don't suppose we knew.
