Today has been a massive improvement on yesterday. I slept well last night and none of my dreams involved either an endless string of missed flights and lost bags or a violent confrontation with a family member!

After an uneventful morning I dropped the lemur at circus school and went shopping. Sundry purchases included a laser printer, wine, palinka and, following an enjoyable spell at Toronto's nicest used and rare bookstore, a rather nice Folio edition of Edmund Blunden's Undertones of War (one of my favourite WW1 books) and a Longus Daphnis and Chloe with rather fine aquatint illustrations.

I even managed to get a run in. Apparently its currently -1C with a windchill of -5C but it feels colder. I added a fleece headband and thin gloves (polypro - the type one might wear under mitts while ice climbing) to my usual tights and jacket. The headband worked well but the gloves were not really adequate. While my fingers didn't get numb like the other day, they were distinctly cold.

I was just thinking you can tell it's much colder over there in winter than here in the UK, given your last few weather reports. But at the moment it's -2, although admittedly it didn't drop below zero til about 8pm. http://www.uk.research.att.com/cgi-bin/weathertext-html-cgi

I need to start thinking about real cycling gloves again, but I still can't find a pair I like!

Yes, we are having a bit of a cold snap. It dropped to -10 last night. It will get worse. Most winters we get a few days below -20 (nose hairs freeze, snow squeaks when you tread on it) but we never get the ultra cold days that hte Prairies get when it drops to -40 and ice crystal fog forms.
