That was fun

9am really is an unreasonable hour for a rugby game but Canada play the USA at 2pm today in Toronto so what games there were on the schedule were early to allow people to get to the big game. I believe some games at Sunnybrook started at 8am. I was up at Fletcher's to ref an OWL 2nd team game between Aurora Barbs and Brampton. It was a pretty good example of when reffing is really fun. The players behaved themselves and played really rather well and the coaches and spectators were not at all obnoxious. I had a good game. Because there wasn't anything silly going on I was able to concentrate on things like the finer points of positioning and I think I called a fair game. I don't think I missed anything major and I don't think I was calling non-material penalties. My positioning was good both at the breakdown and in goal line situations. My Achilles is a bit sore now but I got through the 80 minutes OK. The humidity though was extreme even though it wasn't all that hot.
