So I'm goofing around with my amazon.ca wish list and recommendations and suddenly it starts offering me assorted works by Marc Bloch in Spanish! Now I admit that despite my unbounded admiration for Professor Bloch I usually read him in English (I ploughed through Les Rois Thaumaturges in the original French but that was really like walking the Pennine Way; more to prove one can than for enjoyment) but why would I choose to read him in Spanish? What next? Zola in Hungarian?

Given that it used to be chic to read Tolstoy in French (and some people claimed that Scott-Moncrieff's prose was superior to the original Proust), maybe Zola in Hungarian is the thing to be seen with?

So far my Amazon recommendations list has not taken to offering me foreign language versions of works I didn't actually have any interest in in the first place. I await this development with, er, interest.
