For the first time in what seems like weeks it's not especially hot and humid this morning.  In fact it's exceedingly pleasant out and I have just come back from a most enjoyable ride out to the Leslie Street spit marred only by the stench on the bit downwind of the cormorant colony.  It also gave me a chance to listen to part of a bootleg recording of Handel's Semele.  It seems to be of a radio broadcast of a concert performance in New York in 1985 featuring, among others, Kathleen Battle and the formidable Marilyn Horne.  The singing is splendid and Ms. Horne has them rolling in the aisles.  All in all, a good morning so far
