Big Brother wants to know

Thus far, George Orwell holds the first two spots in the current Humiliation poll. I find this mildly surprising. It also caused me to wonder how generally Orwell is read. Do people, typically, just read 1984 and Animal Farm and do they do so freely or because they were set texts at school?
