Home theatre upgrade
Dec. 28th, 2013 01:30 pmSo we have decided on a home theatre upgrade that will both improve and simplify out set up.
Basically the current rear projection TV will be swapped out for a relatively high end 65" Samsung flat screen. The VCR and cassette player will be retired as neither of us can remember when they were last used. An Apple TV unit will be added.
This will enormously simplify the cabling set up. Basically HDMI from Apple TV and Blu-ray player to TV and digital optical audio fro Apple TV and Blu-ray player to receiver. This will still leave a mass of speaker cables of course but everything else should simplify to four cables plus four power supplies (one for the sub-woofer). Everything else can be done off the wireless network I think.
The TV also supports apps so it will be a bit like having a giant iPad.
