So Bell, Pietersen and Collingwood chipped in a grand total of 4 runs in the 1st innings at Rawalpindi. That should really help sort out the batting line up for the tests.
Thing is tho' that young Owais always did well for England at ODI and youth level.
I know. As far as I can see there is some sort of two tier selection policy. A new body (like Shah or Key) will be given a very limited time to perform and establish himself (it doesn't even have to be poor performance, the return of a rested or injured player can get a newcomer consigned to the outer darkness). If that doesn't happen he's gone, likely never to get another chance. OTOH once someone has made it into the magic circle they become all but undroppable (GO Jones for example). I find it very strange.
