Going nuts

The pain in my left arm and shoulder is pretty much unbearable. I have tried to sleep with the aid of too many pain killers but the results are not encouraging. Being one big writhing, sweaty puddle of pain is not my idea of fun.

I'm sure you've tried, but does ice help? and (because I'm ignorant of the Canadian Health Service set up), can you go to an urgent care facility and get a big shot of cortisone? I know it's evil stuff if you use it too much, but once might be a helpful thing. Either way, I hope it eases up soon.
