Winding down

I'm beginning to be ready for our trip to California. I coached my last session of the season last night. The boys will have one more practice with the other coach before the Provincial Finals. I said my goodbyes and wished them luck. They should do well. They are a very talented and motivated group.

Today, I'm tidying up work loose ends. I'm also fighting acute separation anxiety. I don't think I've been away from Jane for more than one night since she joined the menage. We have someone staying in the apartment while we are away but she is funny with strangers and, while she may have a surrogate monkey, I shall be catless. This disturbs me.

Oh dear. How long will you be away?

Being bereft of fur persons is the hardest part of traveling without them for me, too. Usually the mournful plaints of "I miss my kitties! I miss my dog!" begin about 6 hours after I leave home, and continue periodically until I return.

Oh, that's a long time!

Hopefully you will find some Emergency Backup Cats to get some lovins from while you are away. Not a substitute, as well I know, but it can take the edge off the jones.

I know the feeling. I'm headed off for two weeks with my sister who has dogs, so I'm leaving Mop behind with a house sitter. She'll be a lot happier, but I'll be lonely :(

Especially since I'll be by myself the first few days, but Mop feels very strongly about dogs and car rides, and so I take her along only when the dogs won't be there. Mop likes the sitter though, so I'm not concerned about her--just me.
